After some Dragonball Z playing last night I figured out a few things myself...
1. Yep, kiting FTW.
2. When you get a good group that does rez, you can rattle off 13 wins in a row. What a good group that was.
3. ANet keeps finding ways to entertain. What an absolute blast this game is.
4. Some wins net you four orbs, some eight. Couldn't make the connection as to why though... wasn't too worried about it.
5. Camping the spawn point will get you killed... FAST. The moment of invinsibility you have when spawning is enough time to take out most anyone hanging close to the spawn. Saw it happen time and again... a group would camp the spawn point and all be dead within 30 secs max. Stay back far enough that invinsibility wears off, then let them come to you.
6. The high point isn't the ticket to victory you may think it is. We stayed on the floor, spread out a bit, and kited. Why spread out? You can be hit by a ball not targetted at you. I learned this the hard way last night... spreading out minimizes the congestion and allows you to kite more effectively.
Group I had last night, with the win streak... rez sigs would fly. It was great.

Ahh yes, griefing, whining and crying cause of the lack of ability on the part of you and your team.
Stop being scrubs, play to win.

What exactly is the use of Skill 2?
Its so awesome... we have the most moronic instagib skill at 1 with a range, or the point blank knockdown? Which dipshit thought of that one? Maybe instagib point blank and knockdown ranged sure...

So you're not smart enough to figure out the use of shock in the dodgeball game, and after asking, you go right into trash-talking whoever developed the game? gg

I agree. It's like using a knife on an AWP map agaisnt a group of AWP'ers. It can kill, but only if youre lucky enough to get next to the opponent. It also does 80,which is strange cosidering it says it does 50.

When you have just fired off your dodgeball and are recharging, and there is someone else close to you not paying attention to you...
It's a very useful skill. Take them out long enough for the coup de grace.

Anet didn't make this, it's a copy of the GvG scrim build called Dodgeball.

it comes with 25% penetration itd seem
also, why would u compare two totally different scenarios eludes me.. u cannot dodge "AWP" (if im not wrong, been a while since i played cs.. not like theres much dodging in there anyway, just point and shoot...), whereas u can and should dodge the ball projectile in dragon arena
personally, i like the addition of the arena, its some change.. even tho im not planing on playing more in there

ANet implemented this is a fashion that all characters can do. Even if the concept predates the arena, ANet made it what it is for the event.

We were guessing last night that the number of orbs awareded was a function of your margin of victory over the other team.
Regarding #5, you're absolutely right IF your team knows how to handle it. Most quick PuG's that I participated in last night wound up targeting the same individual (usually the one that was closest). As such, they had already wasted their opportunity to kill during the invicibility period since they had targeted the wrong person.
I like the idea of targeting the number that is assigned to you, but even that in a normal PuG is a hard concept to grasp.

I've had some awful luck with this game. Sadly, 13 out of the 13 games I played I was accompanied by people who ragequit the second the other team sneezed. Every game I played, I was the only non-ragequitter.

Wow.
If it works and isn't an exploit (camping res shrine), then it's fine. They even get a second or two of invincibility. If you don't know how to counter res camping, then you need to learn how to. (Select DIFFERENT TARGETS.) Oh, and for people who have lag, yeah, that's rough, but no matter what you do, you're going to have lag.

UT was plagued by no issues, it was plagued by moaners who thought there were unwritten laws about camping, arserunning, bratwursting, and using certain weapons (spam?).

Ever seen Matrix? You can dodge bullets
___
Why is people whining about this game? A guild came up with a fun game for scrimmages, and Anet just made it easier. Anet gave us what some people wanted.

Guys, don't forget there are a lot of PvE-only players that try out these little arenas during special events. So, they may not be as adept at orb dodging as those who use dodgeball for kiting practice all the time.
And yes, this is dodgeball. This isn't Anet's brainchild. Some PvP players (I think it was some of Te's folks, but I can't recall.) designed the idea to practice kiting/strafing projectiles.

My team from last night couldn't quite figure out how jade orbs were awarded either. We were on a 20 game winning streak (and as mentioned above, sometimes we got 4 orbs and sometimes 8)...it didn't seem to be due to the point difference...on a 6-20 match we only got 4..but on a 18-20 we got 8...so, I don't know if it's glitched..or if it's a time thing..or just random.
I have to say though..I love this game..I haven't really pvp'd much..but this makes me think about giving it a try. I know it's completely different..(not all the same build etc..) but it made me think that playing with other people could possibly be fun.
I was quite shocked though at how many rage quitters there were on the other teams. And how many people just started screaming and swearing. Hmmmm maybe on second thought...I'll stay away from pvp. LOL
And last but not least...I like the kowtow skill. There's a cheap thrill involved in running into the battle like a kamikaze and making your "enemy" bow down. hehehehe
